Schools Kill Creativity

ANIMATE  Changing the Paradigm (change the model)

After you read these pages, perhaps you want to change something in schools in your country.

What is the method to make the change?

Put projects into schools.   Ask students to go deep into their interests.
It's okay if students don't learn about some areas.  Allow students to go deep into something that they want to learn.

Put posters on walls to support projects and independent learning.
The third teacher (the walls also teach)

Ask students

Ask students to put their best work on websites.

Ask students to talk about their learning.

Questions for Emerging Adults: What quotes are important to you? What are you doing to get those quotes seen by other people?

tinyurl.com/jesselair

“Children are not things to be molded, but are people to be unfolded.”
Jesse Lair
tinyurl.com/jesselair

If you agree with Jesse, what kind of classes should teachers organize?

What poster will you create to get this message OUT THERE?

The posters will be posted here for others to use.

It's all about "Global Skills"
What skills will you need to work anywhere in the world?

What social media do you use as an emerging adult?

Dear Young Adult.

You want to make an impact on the world.
You're more than a "teenager."  You are more than a young person who is defined by your age.
You are more than your number of years.

You are an emerging adult.

What social media do you want to be connected with?

Instagram
Many teens use Instagram and snapchat to "define their level of cool."

Emerging adults use Instagram to create collections.

Facebook and Twitter allow you to spread and recommend what is good, honest, pure, just, lovely, of good report.
Let's think about these things.

When an adult looks at your social media, what do you post?

LinkedIn has slideshare, where adults post presentations.

What presentations have you made?
What do you value?

What presentations ahave you seen

YouTube
Do you use LIKES and SUBSCRIBES and Comments
to define "the good, honest and just" things and people around you?

Can you become a reliable collector of useful and beautiful things and people?

Can you create and collect posters of quotes?  How about making posters about these quotes?

A college admission officer might look at your Instagram account.
Future employers will ask, "Do we want this person around us?   Does this type of person represent our ethics and values in our company?"

Your SoundCloud account can LIKE

GoodReads tells people that you learn from books.   Many college professors will respect that...
https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/359196.Jess_Lair

Let's expand this list.
What advice can you give to other emerging adults?  (let's stop using the word "teenager")
What methods will you use to build your social media?

How do you affect the internet?

What are your footprints on the Internet?

Are you a consumer of information?
Are you a GUIDE?  Do you leave signs and tell other travelers where to find good information?  Do you leave comments?
Are you a creator?

Can you pass along this list of questions to other "emerging adults"?

What apps are on your phone?

What do you look at daily to influence your mind?
When you are riding in a car or waiting in line, what are you doing?
Do you have a collection of quotes to inspire you?
Do you have apps that can prepare you

EXAMPLE
Learning another language can "grow your brain."
Do you have the Translate Google app?

Looking at a "problem a day" from the SAT and ACT can "challenge you."   What app do you use?

If you have a friend who says, "I'm just not good at math," can you encourage that person with a daily math exercise?
The skill of mental math is supported by Math Workout.

Do you take interesting photos of your world?  Do you make collections and share them on photos.google.com?
Do you have the Google App for Photos?

How do you use your phone?

What questions do you want to ask yourself?

This document is in the beginning of a book,
a slideshare (a presentation)
a YouTube video
a spoken book (on soundcloud)
a document on Google Drive (where people can add to the list.)

To protect the ORIGINAL document (because other peopple might want to change it), the original document is left on Google drive.... but a SECOND version (which you can add to and change) is also on Google Drive.

If you want to add to the list or make comments, write to ManyPosters@gmail.com and ask for permission to add comments or add questions.

Make this book, video, collection better by sharing it.

(3) Other goals?   how about the DOMINOS video?    572 views in Sept 2016
TO DO:  For students who want to show their power in Spanish

Project #1:  Create posters in Spanish
Use the words from Littky's book and from the 10 expectations
Then post the new posters on the FACEBOOK page

Get the words from Littky's Spanish book and from Leaving To Learn in SPANISH  10 expectations

Project #2  The video with WRITING in Spanish
The writing is currently in English.  The writing with the narration should all be in Spanish.  Why not re-issue this video with students narrating the parts?
ONLY 4 of the 10 expectations are specifically stated in Spanish on this video.

YOUTUBE VIDEO

Project #3  Quotations in Spanish (but create them in movement: "dancing quotes")
Orlando created these powerpoint videos.  How about doing these quotes in SPANISH?

Project #4  Put this entire site in Spanish

use CANVA.com

Questions?   (954) 646 8246
These efforts will get you "volunteer hours"

can we create a poster to drive
people to this video?
